The leaner hospital powered by
Siemens
Siemens
to demonstrate how business, clinical and IT questions can be
answered at Healthcare Computing 2008 Conference and Exhibition
Linking strategy,
processes and IT is the greatest challenge faced by UK
healthcare providers today to create the lean healthcare
institution.
Key targets for 18
week pathway and hospital acquired infection rates are piling on
the pressure; the smooth communication of information between
the primary and secondary sectors is being demanded; care needs
to be patient-centered plus kept in line with Payment By Results
tariffs; and the highest standard of care needs to be delivered
at all times. How?
Siemens can
provide many answers to today’s pertinent questions via Soarian®
a flexible,
clinical IT solution which simplifies the care process through
proven business process management.
Soarian powers the integration of clinical, financial,
diagnostic and administrative processes to support patient
centred care and assert the evolution of a leaner organisation.
Today, 110 customers worldwide draw on the modular benefits of
Soarian with fully integrated workflow engine.
At
Healthcare Computing 2008, 21st-23rd April
in Harrogate, Siemens will present its best practice case
histories and demonstrate modules of its Soarian solution. The
Siemens stand can be located in hall B, number B60.
Demonstrations, access to Siemens consultants and presentations
will be available on the exhibition stand for the duration of
the event. This will include detailed information on how
Siemens can support national and local healthcare IT
requirements via its range of services including consultancy,
non-clinical ICT application, communications and network
services, website, managed desktop solution services, helpdesk
and systems integration.
Case
histories will also be delivered during the free seminar
programme on Tuesday 22nd April. This will include a
discussion of the use of biometric security at a three-hospital
health group in the USA and illustration of the exchange of
patient information across 46 hospitals in Germany.
Soarian
clinical and financial modules offer a seamless data exchange
across three hospital facilities at Susquehanna Health in the
USA. Soarian synchronises processes across the healthcare
enterprise whilst assisting with informed decision making,
leading enhanced care delivery, increasing staff satisfaction
and delivering more efficient business practices. Siemens’
NOVIUS Lab, Pharmacy, Radiology, Document Imaging and Decision
Support systems are also integrated into Soarian. The
enterprise-wide systems are securely accessed via biometric
systems that utilise fingerprints for sign in. This layer of
security is a quick and convenient log-in to information inside
a clinical environment.
Rhön-Klinikum is a leading private hospital service provider in
Germany. The group has 46 hospitals (44 acute, 2
rehabilitation) at 35 locations offering 15,000 beds and
employing a staff count of 31,000. The Group is linking the 46
facilities by the Soarian Integrated Care web-based electronic
health system. This has allowed the efficient exchange of
patient information and images across institutional
and geographical boundaries.
The case
histories both resonate with many of the challenges facing the
UK today. Indeed, Soarian has recently powered a national
Diabetic Retinopathy screening programme in NHS Scotland and
information on this programme will be available from Siemens’
representatives on Stand B60 during Healthcare Computing
2008.
